چکیده

Ankle Foot Orthoses is a supportive equipment attached to the lower part of the leg to support patient’s walking posture, gait. It has been developed for several years using many kinds of actuator that can be controlled electronically. In this paper, a controller development for Passive Control Ankle Foot Orthoses is presented. A Fuzzy Logic Controller is proposed to control the system due to its ability to model human decision process. The proposed inputs to control system are the EMG biosignal for state identification and the angle for torque identification. The controller is expected to produce sufficient current for Magnetorheological(MR) brake to change its stiffness in order to support patient’s gait. Efficacy of Different Types of Foot Orthoses on Postural Control in Subjects With Lateral Ankle Sprain: A Systematic Review

Background and Objectives: Lateral ankle sprain is one of the most common injuries to the musculoskeletal system, especially among active people. This injury causes complex complications, such as recurrent sprain because of reduced postural control. Foot orthoses are among the interventions used to improve postural control in this population. This review aims to investigate foot orthoses to imp...

Comparing the Effects of Flexible and Rigid Ankle-Foot Orthoses on Balance/Walking Performance in Individuals With Multiple Sclerosis

Background: Ankle-Foot orthoses are used to minimize the impact of weakness in ankle dorsiflexion muscles. The study on different orthotic types defines the optimal design, which effectively improves the users’ mobility. This study investigated the potential benefits and risks of a Dictus-band (flexible orthotic), compared with a thermoplastic (fixed) ankle-foot orthosis on the mobility of indi...

The Effect of Modified Floor Reaction Ankle Foot Orthoses on Walking Abilities in Children with Cerebral Palsy

Objectives: This study was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of a modified floor reaction ankle foot orthosis (FRAFO) design on gait performance in children with cerebral palsy. Methods: Eight children with cerebral palsy wore a modified FRAFO bilaterally for six weeks. Motion analysis was used to assess the immediate effectiveness of the orthosis on improving gait and also following si...

Reach performance and postural adjustments during standing in children with severe spastic diplegia using dynamic ankle-foot orthoses.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the co-ordination between reaching, ground reaction forces and muscle activity in standing children with severe spastic diplegia wearing dynamic ankle-foot orthoses compared with typically developing children. DESIGN Clinical experimental study. SUBJECTS Six children with spastic diplegia (Gross Motor Function Classification System level III-IV) and 6 controls. ME...

Effect of ankle-foot orthoses on gait in typically developing children: Developmental trend in segmental coordination.

OBJECTIVE As orthoses, and particularly ankle-foot orthoses, are widely used in the management of children with motor disorders, including cerebral palsy, we aimed to study their effect in normal children in order to add to normative gait data, which are essential for diagnosing, understanding and treating abnormal gait patterns. DESIGN We analyzed the effect of ankle-foot orthoses on classic...
